Skills Development
At KSD, we are passionate about helping our clients to take full advantage of the many opportunities for staff upliftment that exist through skills development. Sometimes, complying with legislation and applying for grants can be confusing: we are experts in this field and are able to assist in all areas or just give advice.
What companies often don't realise is that they can claim back some of the money they have paid in the form of Mandatory Grants and Discretionary Grants.
As your Skills Development Facilitators, We will keep you informed of opportunities to get funding from your SETA, will apply for grants to help fund your training programmes, and maximise the opportunities with your SETA.
The Skills Development Act aims to develop the skills of the South African workforce and to improve the quality of life of workers, as well as provide opportunity for employers to train their staff according to their business needs.
This is why each employeris required to pay a Skills DevelopmentLevy (SDL), according to the Skills Development Levies Act. This Act requires that if a companies payroll is higher than R500 000 annually, they are to pay 1% of their payroll every month as a Skills Development Levy.
Your company belongs to a specific SETA or Sector Education and Training Authority according to your field of business. The money that you pay each month is paid over to this SETA. There are currently 23 SETAs operating in the country.
